*Mission*: The Public Health Spotlight promotes the work of community health leaders and researchers across the state of Washington.

This month our Public Health Spotlight is JanMarie Ward (Chumash), a lineal descendant of the Santa Ynez and Barbare?o California Mission Indians.JanMarie is a private consultant, principal of the Seven Generations Strategies LLC, and Senior Public Health Policy and Project Advisor to the American Indian Health Commission (AIHC).?

A great deal of JanMarie?s work focuses on trauma. She applies a historical and cultural context in trauma-informed approaches as a path to healing and restoration through stories and seven generation strategies","?acknowledgment of intergenerational core strengths, and self-determination that have existed and sustained Indigenous people since time immemorial.
