New Jersey Parents Challenge State’s Secret Retention of Newborn Blood

When babies are born in New Jersey, the state, like all states, requires that blood be taken from the newborns and tested for diseases. But, after the testing is over, New Jersey keeps the leftover blood for 23 years to use however it chooses, all without parents’ knowledge or consent. Now, a group of New Jersey parents have teamed up with IJ to challenge this practice.
