John —
What do you get when you make an election denier Speaker of the House?
Unfortunately, this isn't the setup for a joke. This is our reality: newly-elected Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is one of the many members of Congress who participated in an unsuccessful attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The Speaker of the House is third in line to the presidency and is responsible for certifying the results of presidential elections. We can’t let what happened on January 6 happen again.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel’s words from the Senate floor that day still ring true: “If this election were overturned by mere allegations from the losing side, our democracy would enter a death spiral. We’d never see the whole nation accept the election again.”
Speaker Johnson must commit to upholding the will of the voters. Together, we can make sure he does.
Join thousands of RepresentUs members in calling on the new Speaker to honor the results of the 2024 elections.
These problems will only be fixed by fixing the system itself. By changing how our politicians are elected; how they finance their campaigns; and how they are held to account once in office… Simply put, the work RepresentUs is doing has never been more important. It’s why I jumped at the chance to join the team earlier this year and continue RepUs’s decades-long fight to hold lawmakers accountable and create transparency in government.
With the 2024 election coming up, we continue facing a serious crisis in our democracy. As the Vice President of Development, I’ve gotta ask: will you do one more thing?
Make a generous donation to RepresentUs right now to fund the front lines of this movement to fix our broken political system. From now until December 15, your gift will be matched 1:1! With your support, we’ll educate more people, amplify grassroots campaigns across the nation, and pass and defend laws that will finally fix our broken system.
We cannot do this without your dedication to democracy and your support.
