One of the most common questions that gets asked about the Forward Party is "What are your policies?". We're so glad that the Forward Party believes in letting candidates answer policy questions for themselves, but we agree that it's a question that has some merit.

As the current Pennsylvania Forward Party leadership team knows, we have to make decisions such as choosing candidates to endorse or organizations to partner with that require us to make judgements about policy stances. Supporters like you need to know that we are thinking about the issues facing our state. As we begin to recruit candidates in 2024, those potential candidates are going to need to know the things that are important to us. We also need to put our priorities on a list to hold ourselves accountable.

We are going to focus on one a week for the next 7 weeks and encourage you to join in the conversation on social media- telling us what you think about these topics. We spend a long time working on this and we're so glad we can finally share it.

Week 1 Priority

Open Primaries – Pennsylvania is one of only nine states that maintains a closed primary system.  This means you have to be registered with one of the 2 major Parties to be eligible to vote and excludes more than 1.1 million tax paying Pennsylvanians. Currently, the winner of some of our most important elections are decided by the primary. This makes public officials only accountable to their party bases and not the electorate at large. We have endorsed and are working with our friends at https://www.ballotpa.org/ to change this.
