Dear john,Yesterday, House Democrats once again stepped in to avert a government shutdown.Just like we did 6 weeks ago, Democrats rescued the country and brought the needed votes across the finish line to avoid disastrous consequences on communities like ours. We voted for a 2 part continuing resolution - a bill to extend government funding and operations at current levels until January 19th and February 2nd. There are two dates as some departments like the VA, Agriculture, and HUD will be funded through the first date, while other parts of our government like the Department of Defense will be funded through the second date.I wouldn't be surprised if we find ourselves again at the mercy of Conservative-infighting for the next round of negotiations a couple of months from now, but you will be able to count on me to continue advocating for our home each and every time.
