Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The California Association of Professional Scientists (CAPS) is currently facing a critical juncture in its fight to secure a fair contract with the Newsom Administration.

State scientists plan to walk off the job starting TODAY in what is California’s first-ever civil servant strike. CAPS has been in bargaining for over three years and has reached an impasse—they will begin mediation in November. CAPS members have overwhelmingly authorized their bargaining team to call for a strike. We must stand in solidarity with State Scientists in their pursuit of equal pay for equal work and recognition of their invaluable work keeping Californians safe, healthy, and well-informed.

It’s Solidarity Season! CAPS Strike Schedule

November 15, 2023: District 3 scientists strike in Sacramento at the CalEPA Building.

November 16, 2023: Districts 1, 3, and 4 scientists, along with North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board scientists, continue the strike at various locations.

November 17, 2023: ALL STATE SCIENTISTS ON STRIKE, picketing at respective worksites.
