JOHN,

File this under the messages I never thought I’d have to write.

Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is apparently so enraged about his
ousting
<[link removed]>
that he’s willing toget physical
<[link removed]>
. In an encounter that is still shocking to me, Kevin strolled by and shoved me
while I was talking with a reporter in the Capitol.

Yep, you read that right. A grown man who has been elected by the people to
serve in our nation’s capital is acting like a dadgum bully in a schoolyard.

You all know me well enough by now to know that I’m not one to be pushed
around, so yes, Ichased after him
<[link removed]>
to confront him about it. He denied his pathetic behavior, and I walked away
with full confidence that replacing him was the right move. Not just for
Congress, but for Americans.

It was bad enough that Kevin mocked me over praying about my decision to vote
the way I did, but this takes everything to a whole new level.

Kevin McCarthy is a jerk
<[link removed]>
on a downward spiral, and I’m not afraid to say it.

We need leaders who take ownership and responsibility, not cowards who pass
the buck
<[link removed]>
and refuse to look in the mirror when their shortcomings are exposed. Kevin
doesn’t have the character to lead the House—and his knee-jerk reactions and
attitude have made that abundantly clear.

Even still, I feel sorry for Kevin. Despite his condescending attitude about
my prayers, I send one up for him every day, and I hope he finds some happiness
in his life.

It’s been a wild year, but I’m confident that we’re finally headed in the
right direction underthe guidance of Speaker Johnson
<[link removed]>.
We’re getting down to business and doing it the right way, and I will always
stand by the decision I made to set this into motion.

As always, thank you for your support, and thank you for sending me here. It’s
a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and I always aim to make you proud.

Sincerely,

Tim Burchett
