John,

The Supreme Court just announced a new code of ethics [[link removed]] amidst growing public outrage and Congressional scrutiny over undisclosed gifts.

But there's a catch. It fails to create any new requirements on gifts or disclosures, and it leaves compliance to the Justices themselves. Even Congress has stronger ethics rules than this!

The Supreme Court is one of the country’s most powerful governing bodies, capable of overruling decisions by the other two branches of the federal government. Without a comprehensive, enforceable code of conduct for its members, the Supreme Court will continue to hemorrhage public trust.

I will be introducing a sweeping anti-corruption political reform package that includes stronger judicial code of ethics for federal judges and Supreme Court Justices. It will also set 18-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices and 12-year term limits for members of Congress, ban campaign contributions of any kind from PACs and lobbyists, and prohibit stock trading by members of Congress and lobbying from retired members.

Thank you for your activism and all that you do.
