John, World Diabetes Day takes place this week! And, this year, we need your help to stop diabetes forever. Are you in?

100 years ago, Frederick Banting and John Macleod won a Nobel Prize for discovering a treatment that continues to save millions of lives around the world - insulin.
Since then, our scientists have made incredible breakthroughs – from helping people with type 1 to make their own insulin, to putting type 2 into remission. We’re getting closer to a cure every day.
John, the progress our researchers have made has only been possible thanks to the generosity of people like you. But there’s still more to do.
We won't stop until no one has to prick their fingers, to inject, to carb count.
We won't stop until no one has to think like a pancreas every second of the day.
We won't stop until we can cure or prevent diabetes for everyone.
Will you donate to help us stop diabetes forever?

World first screening study
For the first time ever, adults will be screened to identify their risk of type 1 diabetes. The research study that will identify adults at risk of developing type 1 opens for recruitment today. By screening 20,000 UK adults, the study will answer key questions about how type 1 diabetes develops in adults and identify people at high risk, allowing for earlier and safer diagnosis.

New drug approved to treat type 2
We’re excited to announce that NICE have approved the use Tirzepatide (also known as Mounjaro) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in England and Wales. This means the NHS have 3 months to make the drug available for prescription. Research into the use of Tirzepatide found it led to greater improvements in blood sugar management and weight loss compared to other type 2 medications.

Changing lives through research
( [link removed] )
From the first insulin pen to putting type 2 diabetes into remission, we’ve been at the forefront of diabetes research for over 85 years. The scientists we’ve funded continue to transform the lives of millions of people affected by diabetes, in the UK and beyond. Their life-changing research is only possible thanks to the generosity of people like you, John.
