John,
The Prime Minister wanted to deport
people fleeing war, famine and persecution to a country with a record
of human rights abuses without first checking if they are eligible for
asylum here, and with no possibility to return to the UK once their
case is heard.
The landmark ruling by the Supreme
Court means an indefinite halt to this abhorrent plan.
We’d like to take this
moment to express our thanks personally. A huge thank you to
each and every one of you who donated to Best for Britain and
supported our campaign against it.
However, with the extreme fringe of
the Tory party is still calling for Sunak to remove the UK from the
European Convention of Human Rights - even though the Supreme Court
ruled that the Rwanda plan was illegal in other treaties.
And just now the Prime Minister
said
"Crucially, the Supreme Court
has confirmed that the principle of sending illegal migrants to a safe
third country for processing is lawful"
So
we can expect them to try and offload Britain's responsibilities
to another country again.
But thanks to you we won't let
them, and will not rest until they are removed from office and a new
government comprehensively bins this morally reprehensible plan - if
you want to help us in this mission, a
donation of any size would go a long way.
A small note about
fundraising We know how much the cost of living crisis
is affecting our supporters - and we know that this means you might
not be able to make a donation today. It costs roughly £10,000 a month
just to keep our campaigning tech ticking over. So I hope you
understand why we have to ask. And in turn, we'll keep helping you
take action - making sure to tell you when it's time to sign a
petition, write a letter to a newpaper, or contact your
MP.
