Unprecedented wildfires ravaged Maui, killing nearly 100 people and decimating the historic town of Lahaina.

Canadian wildfire smoke plagued air quality in Chicago, New York, and even as far south as Miami, where the ocean waters reached a swampy 86° F.

China recorded its highest-ever temperature of 126° F.

But while the evidence is undeniable and overwhelming, it’s often hard to pay attention and really understand what’s going on, especially when you layer on all the nonsense that dominates clickbait headlines in online spaces.
