Friend, I just published an op-ed in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal about an issue that urgently needs our attention in Texas: access to abortion.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, we’ve heard the heartbreaking stories of what Texas women are facing under our extreme near total abortion ban – and now cities and counties are trying to ban women from driving on their roads to flee the state to access reproductive health care.

Make no mistake: That’s not the Texas I know, and it’s not the Texas I want to pass on to my children. I will always fight to restore and protect abortion access and every woman’s fundamental right to make their own health care decisions.

At the end of the day, this is about freedom – for politicians like Ted Cruz to take away women’s ability to make their own choices is unthinkably cruel.
