Joanna’s Republican opponent Scott Baugh recently sent out a fundraising email with some… interesting word choices.
“Every legal avenue” caught our attention, because Baugh is no stranger to run-ins with the law. In fact, he has an alarming record of criminal behavior when it comes to how he has run his own campaigns:
- While Baugh was Chair of the Orange County Republican Party, upwards of 600 Orange County residents had their voter registration switched to Republican without their consent. The scandal led to 12 arrests. (OC Register, 3/1/2006)
- Baugh was indicted on federal charges for manipulating the results of an election. He faced more than 20 criminal charges for violating campaign finance laws and perjury. (LA Times, 3/23/96)
As far as we’re concerned, it’s Baugh who has the track record of doing “anything in order to win.” He has no ground to stand on with regard to running a legal campaign, and it is par for the course that he
refused to acknowledge that President Biden won the 2020 presidential election.
Orange County deserves better than a crooked politician like Baugh. We know he’ll do “anything” in order to flip this seat, so we need to work harder than ever to elect Joanna. Please chip in $3 or more right now.
