** Unmasking of Naked Global Power, Violence and Impunity in Gaza
------------------------------------------------------------

** U.S., Canada and E.U. complicit with Israel’s indiscriminate bombing and ethnic cleansing in Palestine
------------------------------------------------------------

Rights Action is dismayed and outraged at the naked display of global power, violence and impunity in Palestine (mainly Gaza, also in the West Bank), as the U.S., Canada and E.U. provide unconditional military, economic and political/ ideological support for Israel’s indiscriminate killing of civilians and ethnic cleansing bombing campaign to forcibly remove 2.1 Palestinians from the Gaza.

Media propaganda

We are dismayed at the almost propagandistic role that much - not all - of the government and corporate media in the U.S., Canada and the E.U. are playing, fundamentally legitimizing Israel’s motivations and actions, while censoring the breadth of violence and death, suffering, destruction, suffering and ethnic cleansing occurring daily in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Charade of “rules-based international order”

The naked display of violence, destruction and ethnic cleansing occurring - with full backing of the U.S., Canada and E.U. - make a mockery of what the U.S., E.U. and Canada so often claim to uphold – a “rules based international order”.

Exposing the “United Nations”

The naked display of violence, destruction and ethnic cleansing exposes once again fundamental problems with the institution of the “United Nations” wherein the majority of the member nations are united in demanding an immediate ceasefire, while a tiny minority of rich, powerful nations underwrite, support and legitimize Israel’s deadly ethnic cleansing bombing campaign.

Because the pre-eminent institution of our global order - the UN - is hostage to the whims of the five permanent members of the Security Council and their veto powers, the UN is incapable of stopping the indiscriminate bombing and ethnic cleansing, let alone demanding even a ceasefire to allow for delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Indeed, over 100 UN workers in Palestine have been killed by Israeli bombing and the UN can do nothing, … but call for a moment of silence in their memory.

For decades, Rights Action has funded and supported community-led human rights and justice, land and environmental defense struggles in Guatemala and Honduras. At the same time, Rights Action has worked to expose, denounce and hold accountable the U.S. and Canadian governments and militaries, and North American companies and banks (including the World Bank and IADB), if and when their policies and actions contribute to, or directly cause the systemic harms and violences that the majority poor Guatemalans and Hondurans suffer from and are resisting.

While repression and violence against the majority populations of Guatemala and Honduras have long histories, in recent times it would be the years of U.S.-backed genocides and country-wide massacres in the late 1970s, early 1980s, that most directly compare with the mass killing and ethnocidal violence occurring in Gaza since October 7.

Solo el pueblo / Only the people

Rights Action does no differently now, calling on U.S. and Canadian citizens – and civil society - to get directly involved in any local, regional, national efforts to expose, denounce and hold accountable the U.S. and Canadian governments and militaries, any North American companies and banks, that are contributing directly or indirectly to the systemic violences, destructions and harms that Palestinians are suffering at the hands of the Israel State.

While there are politicians speaking out and taking principled positions in the U.S. and Canada, the majority of U.S. and Canadian politicians and government officials are directly supporting, to one degree or another, the actions of the Israel State in Palestine today.

Bare minimum demands

Stop supporting/legitimizing Israel's bombing of civilians and ethnic cleansing military campaign to expel over 2 million Gazan Palestinians.

Demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

Demand massive delivery of comprehensive humanitarian relief.

Demand immediate release of all hostages and illegally captured people.

Then,

Support – for as long as it takes - a comprehensive negotiation process that deals with the extreme death, suffering and destruction happening right now (beginning on October 7), and addresses the historic root causes, going back to 1948, including the establishment of the current Israeli Apartheid system and the violent, illegal settler community expansionism occurring year in, year out.

Urgent need to diversify media sources

Rights Action urges everyone to diversify their news sources. We suggest the daily news coverage provided by Al Jazeera news ([link removed]; @AJEnglis ([link removed]) h) and Democracy Now (www.democracynow.org; @democracynow ([link removed]) )

These are not the only other sources, and it is not a question of agreeing with every story they cover, but they provide serious media reporting on the Israel/Palestine situation, and are a necessary antidote to the oftentimes harmful, misleading reporting coming from most of the mainstream government and corporate media in the U.S., E.U., and Canada.
