96,844 adults, or 12% of people in Delaware, have been diagnosed with diabetes – and another 24,000 people in Delaware are living with diabetes and don’t even know it.

For people living with this life-altering disease, diabetes can not only take years off of their lives, but it can also drastically affect the day-to-day health of people in our community.

This World Diabetes Day, I’d like to talk about the importance of addressing such a critical issue.

Tackling, treating, and preventing diabetes doesn’t just happen – it takes key investments into our healthcare system, funding education about risk factors, and making sure our communities have plenty of support for outdoor recreation and activities to keep people moving.

That takes electing leaders who will put people’s health first.
