Leadership

In this week’s Leadership newsletter, we look at racial equity work within organizations. First, DEI efforts are too often put forward as a way to boost profitability. A deep dive into the history and philosophy of DEI helps organizations move toward a more liberatory practice. Next, internal racial equity audits are one important way for foundations and nonprofits to ensure their practices reflect their stated values and goals toward racial equity. Leaders in the field offer some guiding questions to conduct these audits. Then, the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute recommends how funders can act on their values and support Black-led nonprofits through partnership, not performativity. Finally, NPQ is inviting contributors to the spring 2024 issue of Nonprofit Quarterly Magazine.
