Last Tuesday (Election Day) served as a beacon of encouragement for all of us in the fight for reproductive rights, John xxxxxx.

Here’s a rundown of what happened:

🏆 Ohio: Voters turned out to enshrine abortion access in the Ohio state constitution by voting “YES” on Issue 1. According to CBS News, this was the first election in which “voters in a Republican-controlled state were asked to affirmatively guarantee the right to an abortion in the state's founding document.” This proves that abortion is a winning issue that transcends party affiliation.

🏆 Virginia: Governor Youngkin had been outspoken about his eagerness to sign an abortion ban into law in his state. Virginia voters responded by turning out to vote overwhelmingly for pro-choice candidates. As a result, Democrats won control of BOTH the State Senate and House of Delegates, which means Virginia will secure its position as a critical access point for women seeking comprehensive reproductive healthcare in the South.

🏆 Her Bold Move Candidates: The MAJORITY of our candidates WON their elections in races across the country. These were not guaranteed wins – and some of our candidates defeated candidates with 2x as much funding and institutional support. We could not have been prouder to support them – and will be thrilled to see them in the rooms where decisions that impact their constituents are being made.

We have joined a bipartisan coalition in Florida in an effort to pass a constitutional amendment protecting access to abortion. A poll conducted by the University of North Florida's Public Opinion Research Lab shows 75% of voters either somewhat oppose or strongly oppose the state's six-week abortion ban. As we’ve seen time and time again since Roe was first overturned, when the right to abortion is on the ballot, it wins every time. That’s why we launched Her Bold Move Florida to ensure Florida voters have the chance to make their voices heard.

To get the constitutional amendment on the ballot by November 2024, our partners on the ground must submit 891,523 valid petition signatures to the state by February 1, 2024. Once the measure is on the ballot, it will require support from at least 60% of voters to pass. We don’t have much time left to pull this off.
