Dear Friend,
Many have faced the effects of cancel culture because of what they post online.
But what about criminal prosecution? It’s happening more than you think.
State-sponsored censorship is an alarming trend on the rise across the world, and we’re fighting back.
In Finland, we’re supporting the legal defense of Parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen, currently awaiting a verdict on charges of “hate speech” over a 2019 Bible tweet that questioned her church’s participation in a local pride parade.
In Mexico, civil society leader Rodrigo Iván Cortés and current congressman Gabriel Quadri have been convicted of violence for expressing biological reality in a series of social media posts. We’re taking their cases to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
The prosecution and punishment of those in the public eye has enormous silencing consequences for the rest of us. Now is the time to stand a stand in defense of free speech for everyone.
One year ago, self-declared “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk took over Twitter/X. And, back in August, Elon offered to back your legal bill if you were unfairly treated by your employer because of something you posted on the platform.
We are asking him to expand this offer to leverage Twitter/X in support of those subjected to government censorship.
Read the letter here and help us reach over 5,000 signatures on our petition to Elon
Too many individuals around the world face censorship and sanctioning, including under criminal law, for peacefully sharing their beliefs on social media – whether about their biblical worldview, gender, or other prominent issues.
That’s why we’ve partnered with over 50 notable free speech champions across the world to thank Elon for working to keep speech free on the world’s digital public square – while also alerting him that there is still a lot of work to do.
Open debate is at the heart of a free society. Join us in asking Elon to harness Twitter/X to ensure that all are free to peacefully engage on the platform without fear of government punishment.
Add your name to the list of free speech defenders and help us stay on offense in the crucial fight against censorship. Let’s keep speech free.
