John,
We couldn't ignore Republican State Representative Bryan Shupe's attempt to play the victim and paint a dire picture of Delaware's future in his recent editorial [[link removed]] . Shupe seems to be crying foul because Democrats have consistently won the trust and votes of Delawareans by addressing their actual needs and concerns.
Shupe's exaggerated claims of a "tyranny of the majority" are nothing more than a desperate attempt to distract from the GOP's failure to earn the trust of Delaware’s voters or offer meaningful solutions.
In his piece, Shupe frames Vote by Mail legislation as an illegitimate power grab, but let's set the record straight. Vote by Mail, which previously held bipartisan support, is about improving access to the ballot box and ensuring every voter can have their voice heard – something the GOP nationwide seems allergic to.
It’s also worth remembering that when House Republicans had the chance last Summer, they used their limited legislative influence to advocate for corporations to have the right to vote. Yes, you read that right – prioritizing corporate interests over the rights of individual Delawareans. And if that wasn't enough, they walked out of the legislature to make their point.
Delaware Republicans have made it clear where their priorities lie, and it's not with the people.
