The Defend the Guard Act is a crucial piece of legislation that seeks to protect our state and our nation's constitutional principles.

This bill would prohibit the deployment of the New Hampshire National Guard into active combat without a declaration of war by Congress, as required by Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.

Citizens Alliance of New Hampshire is proud to support this bill, and cannot stress how important its passage is.

The federal government is currently involved in a number of military conflicts, including Syria, Ukraine, and Israel, where there is no official declaration of war by Congress.

When the federal government lacks the authority to deploy the National Guard without a congressional declaration of war, we can prevent endless wars and global policing actions that go beyond the bounds of our Constitution.
