The revelation, along with others, came during a confidential interview Ellis had with Fulton County investigators and proves that Trump fully intended to carry out a coup against American democracy and, in fact, attempted to do just that.

Aluminum foil used to keep babies alive at Gaza hospital as fighting rages outside
Tiny, premature newborns lie in rows in an ordinary hospital bed lined with aluminum foil, rib cages sticking out in lines through their skin. The foil is a makeshift solution to try to keep in warmth, to stop the babies — who weigh just a few pounds each and should be in incubators — dying of cold. So far, three babies in al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest, have died as fuel has run out and the incubators have switched off, according to Palestinian medics. A total of 32 patients have died since al-Shifa’s emergency generator ran out of fuel on Saturday. The sprawling complex, which Israel accuses Hamas militants of using as a cover for an underground network of operations tunnels, is surrounded by Israeli tanks and troops who have reached the gates of the facility.

Supreme Court rejects appeal of Illinois prisoner kept in solitary confinement for 3 years
In a truly dystopian ruling, the Supreme Court has refused to take up the appeal of an Illinois inmate whose lawyers argued his rights were violated when he was kept in solitary confinement for some three years and denied virtually all access to exercise. Under any honest definition of the word, this qualifies as torture. The three liberal judges dissented, but were once again outvoted by the court's conservative supermajority. It's clear that if we are going to stand any chance of rectifying the great ignored evil that is the current American carceral system, we must first shift the balance of the court away from Republican control. To conservatives, prisoners aren't even human beings.
