Jack, sign the petition: Members of Congress should not own or trade individual stocks. Pass the ETHICS Act!

Insider trading is illegal. Yet, members of Congress, who are still allowed to trade individual stocks, often receive inside information as part of their jobs.
Our laws need to be strengthened to correct this loophole.
Preventing corruption on Capitol Hill is the aim of the Ending Trading and Holdings in Congressional Stocks (ETHICS) Act. This legislation would prohibit the trading of individual stocks by members of Congress.

P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier calling on Congress to pass the ETHICS Act:

The COVID pandemic turned out to be a financial opportunity for lawmakers like former Sen. David Perdue and former Rep. Kelly Loeffler–who made millions by using non-public information only granted to Congress to trade stocks.
And this unethical practice continues. At least fifteen Congress members with a hand molding defense policy invest in military contractors. Congress members in key roles shaping energy policy own stocks in fossil fuel corporations.
Congress receives insider information that makes trading stocks a conflict of interest–it is unethical and skews who Congress serves.

It’s time to address this by prohibiting politicians from using non-public information to personally benefit in the stock market. The Ending Trading and Holdings in Congressional Stocks (ETHICS) Act would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children from abusing their positions for personal financial gain by owning or trading securities, commodities, or futures.
Congress must restore public trust and ensure that our elected officials remain focused on the nation's welfare, not their stock portfolios.
