TFAS Fellows visit the Kirk Center

Last week, the Russell Kirk Center welcomed the Public Policy Fellows of the Fund for American Studies (TFAS) ([link removed]) to discuss “The Roots of American Order as the Foundation for a New Fusionism.” This impressive group consisted of twenty young professionals who work as journalists at the Washington Free Beacon and National Review; for policy organizations such as the Hudson Institute, American Enterprise Institute, and Parents Defending Education; or as legislative aides in Washington D.C.

The group was led in discussion by David D. Corey, director of Baylor in Washington D.C. and a professor of political science in the Baylor University Honors Program. In their conversations, they examined not only the nature of order and freedom in the American tradition but also the importance of reawakening in themselves and in their generation what Kirk called "the moral imagination." We're just three weeks away from the 70th anniversary celebration of Russell Kirk's landmark book, The Conservative Mind, in Washington, D.C. ([link removed]) One of the highlights of the event will be a panel of emerging conservative thinkers, and I'm delighted to share that Elayne Allen will be among them.

Allen is a PhD student in political theory at the University of Notre Dame. Previously, she worked as the managing editor of Public Discourse. She was also a research assistant in the American Enterprise Institute’s Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies department. She received a BA in great texts and political philosophy from Baylor University’s Honors College. An alumna of the John Jay Fellowship, Hudson Institute Political Studies Program, and Hertog Foundation, Elayne has published essays and op-ends in a variety of outlets such as Public Discourse, Time, City Journal, American Purpose, Law & Liberty, The American Interest, and Breaking Ground.
