Biden Considering Unlocking Another $10 Billion in Frozen Assets for Iran

Spencer Brown: The Biden administration — through the State Department specifically — is reportedly considering issuing a waiver to Iran that would allow access to another $10 billion worth of previously frozen cash, this time held in Iraq. This alarming development comes after the Biden administration — in the days before Iran-backed Hamas terrorists launched their October 7 slaughter of Israelis — unfroze billions of dollars for Iran as part of a questionable prisoner swap arrangement. Since that deal was made, Iranian proxies have continued to launch attacks at Israel as well as U.S. troops in the Middle East, wounding dozens of American service members (Townhall). RNC Research: Biden State Department spokesman Matt Miller declines to comment on reports they are considering unlocking another $10 billion for Iran. REMINDER: Biden has already enriched the Iranian regime to the tune of $100 billion since taking office (X).

Governor Newsom Only Cleans Up San Francisco Because of an International Conference
RNC Research: After San Francisco was magically cleaned up ahead of Xi Jinping’s visit, Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom says: “I know folks say, ‘Oh, they’re just cleaning up this place because all these fancy leaders are coming into town.’ That’s true because it’s true” (X). National Review: Got that, residents of big cities beset by crime, homelessness, and breakdown in public order? If you want your streets cleaned up and your sidewalks free of human feces and hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia, the tent cities of homeless people removed, graffiti painted over, and all kinds of high-speed beautification efforts, all you need to do is host a major international conference featuring the president and the dictator who runs China! Now, how do we get major international conferences to be hosted by Los Angeles, Oakland, Detroit, Camden, Saint Louis, Baltimore, Cleveland (National Review). Reporter Michael Shellenberger: For years, Democrats said there was nothing more they could do to clean up cities. They lied. Look how fast they cleaned up San Francisco for a visit by China’s leader. The reason Dems ruined West Coast cities is simple: they refuse to arrest addicts who break anti-camping laws (X).

Xi Jinping’s Agenda for California Visit is Revealed
Washington Times: Chinese President Xi Jinping meets President Biden this week on the sidelines of an international economic summit in San Francisco seeking concessions from the United States on ideology, trade and exports, according to a review of Chinese state media ahead of the meeting. A common theme of Chinese official accounts in the days leading up to the first meeting of the two presidents in a year is that bilateral relations with the U.S. should be based on three principles, starting with “mutual respect.” That reflects China’s demand that the U.S. not try to subvert Beijing‘s communist system, according to the official Xinhua news agency. Mr. Biden and Mr. Xi are scheduled to meet Wednesday during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation. Mr. Xi also plans to deliver a speech in San Francisco on his proposals for deeper Asia-Pacific cooperation and regional and global growth (Washington Times). Reporter Bill Gertz: Chinese propaganda outlets reveal Xi Jinping’s agenda for San Fran summit: Demand US not undermine the communist system and loosen trade and export restrictions as a precondition for closer ties (X). Gordon Chang: Call off the summit with Xi Jinping. China’s regime is not legitimate (X).

IDF Captures Gaza’s Parliament Building
Times of Israel: An image circulating on social media shows troops of the IDF’s Golani Brigade inside Gaza’s parliament building in Gaza City, after capturing the site. The Palestinian Legislative Council building in Gaza has only served Hamas’s lawmakers since the terror group’s takeover of the Strip in 2007 (Times of Israel). Washington Examiner: The IDF gave its most detailed breakdown of the state of Hamas’s forces on Monday as well, estimating that the effectiveness of 10 out of 24 of the terror group’s brigades had been broken. It further claimed that targeted killings of top Hamas commanders had caused coordination to break down, disrupting a more synchronized plan to ambush IDF forces within Gaza City. The number of prewar fighters was given as roughly 30,000, though it’s unknown how many of those are left (Washington Examiner).

Americans Strike Another Weapon Storage Facility in Syria
ABC: American aircraft on Sunday struck a weapons storage facility and a command-and-control center used by Iran-linked militants in Syria in the latest round of retaliatory strikes amid continued attacks on U.S. troops in the Middle East. The operation was in response to what the Pentagon has called ongoing attacks, injuring dozens of American troops, by proxy fighters supported by Iran since the Israel-Hamas war began after Hamas’ terror attack last month. The U.S. military said the strikes are part of a larger strategy of deterrence intended to keep other groups from escalating conflict in the region, where tensions have been sharply inflamed by the fighting between Israel and Hamas (ABC). Daily Wire: Senior U.S. defense officials said that approximately 6-7 Iranian-backed terrorists were killed at one of the locations and that “two hours of secondary explosions were seen at second location suggesting large weapons and ammo storage.” The strike follows a similar strike the U.S. carried out last week after dozens of U.S. soldiers have sustained brain injuries from rocket and drone attacks launched by Iranian-backed terrorists. There have been an estimated 48 attacks on U.S. forces in recent weeks by the Iranian-backed terrorists and at least 56 U.S. soldiers have been injured (Daily Wire).

NYC Illegal Immigrants Taken to Tent City Try Leaving as Soon As They Arrive
Fox News: The first batch of migrants was bused to a makeshift tent city in Brooklyn on Sunday and took one look and were ready to leave. The controversial tent shelter at Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field, which has drawn widespread criticism for its remote location, among many other concerns, is set to house nearly 2,000 migrants, but the first busload abandoned the site after taking a view of it (Fox News). Collin Rugg: New York City migrants are now complaining and leaving their new makeshift tent city, brought to them by Mayor Eric Adams, because it wasn’t nice enough. Remarkable. Since Spring of 2022, over 139,000 non-U.S. citizens have moved to NYC to seek asylum. Over 65,000 immigrants are still under Adams’ care with thousands of new illegal immigrants arriving each week. Video of the illegal immigrants getting back onto the bus right after they were dropped off can be seen (X).

Supreme Court Announces New Official Code of Conduct
NBC: The Supreme Court on Monday announced it has formally adopted what it called a new code of conduct following allegations of ethics lapses, although its impact is likely to be limited because the justices are left to enforce it themselves. The court issued a 15-page document that included five canons of conduct on issues such as when justices should recuse themselves and what kind of outside activities they can engage in. All nine justices signed the statement (NBC). Wall Street Journal: The code of conduct plus commentary runs 15 pages and includes such details as how to define “third degree of relationship,” and who has to sign off when a Justice gets paid to teach a law class. A prefatory statement from the Court says the absence of a written code has led to confusion about its practices: “To dispel this misunderstanding, we are issuing this Code, which largely represents a codification of principles that we have long regarded as governing our conduct” (Wall Street Journal).

Governor Newsom Moves Forward with His “Cradle to Career” System
Just the News: After a trip to China, which uses a social credit score system, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the next phase of the state’s “Cradle to Career” system that uses more than one billion data points. “By leveraging billions of data points, California’s Cradle-to-Career data system will be a game-changer for improving the quality of life for millions of Californians and highlighting ways to improve opportunity in the classroom and access to the workforce.” The system is designed to “illuminate gaps and identify opportunities throughout students’ education experiences so they can ultimately reach their goals for life and careers” through data that includes “race, gender, ability, and geography to illuminate and address areas of strength and needed growth, and any inequities” (Just the News). Daily Caller: In 2014, China’s State Council announced a new “social credit” system, according to a Chinese government report. China’s social credit system rates users across five dimensions: credit history, ability to fulfill a contract, personal characteristics, behavior and preference and social relationships. Users may lose social credit points for spreading false information, smoking in restricted areas and criminal activity, among other things (Daily Caller).

Democrats Losing the Black Vote
Wall Street Journal: Heading into 2024, Democrats are sounding alarms about losing voters like Smith. Black voter turnout fell during the 2022 midterm elections compared with the previous midterms, and polling and interviews with voters show growing dissatisfaction over the economy and Biden’s leadership. Any decline with these voters could be fatal for the re-election of Biden, whose path to victory depends on building a diverse coalition of voters in six or so closely fought battleground states. Wage gains have cooled more dramatically for Black workers than other Americans. Median weekly earnings for Black workers employed full time rose 4.2% in the third quarter from a year earlier, versus a 10.3% gain the prior year. Overall wages rose 4.5% last quarter, down from a 6.9% increase in the third quarter of 2022. In 2020, they helped lift Biden to the nomination and overwhelmingly backed him over Trump, 92% to 8% (Wall Street Journal). Trump now has 22 percent of the black voter base (New York Times).

Protesters Clash with Police Officers Outside Training Center in Atlanta
Associated Press: Police used tear gas and flash-bang grenades Monday to halt a march seeking to stop construction of a police and firefighter training center in Atlanta. More than 500 people on Monday marched about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) from a park to the site, which is just outside the Atlanta city limits in suburban DeKalb County. A wedge of marchers, including some in masks, goggles and chemical suits intended to protect against tear gas, pushed into a line of officers in riot gear on a road outside the training center site. Officers pushed back and then responded with tear gas, with one protester throwing a canister back at officers. Protests against the proposed training center — dubbed “Cop City” by opponents — have been going on for more than two years. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr obtained a sweeping indictment in August, using the state’s anti-racketeering law to target 61 protesters, characterizing them as “militant anarchists.” Protesters called the event “Block Cop City” and events were held across the country to support Monday’s demonstration. It was the latest effort to stop construction, part of a protest movement that has galvanized environmentalists and anti-police protesters across the country (Associated Press). Citizen Free Press: Atlanta cops clash with rioters and Antifa at a “Stop Cop City” protest (X).
