Over the next five years, Love146 will significantly expand prevention education in Milwaukee and Denver

Wisconsin & Colorado were already two of the more than 30 states implementing Love146’s prevention education curriculum, Not a Number, in their communities. But we’re excited to share that over the next 5 years we will be expanding our work, bringing the curriculum to tens of thousands of students in the Milwaukee and Denver school districts.

This expansion is being funded through the Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education (HTYPE) Demonstration Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Administration for Children and Families Office on Trafficking in Persons. The HTYPE Demonstration Program funds local education agencies to develop and implement programs that prevent human trafficking victimization through the provision of skills-based human trafficking training and education for school staff and students.

"We must do whatever we can, for as long as necessary, to end the scourge of human trafficking,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “These resources will help schools increase awareness about human trafficking and empower more people to come forward and help stop it. By addressing the conditions that allow this horrific practice, we can help the individuals, families, and communities that are affected the most.”

Do you know someone who could join the team in Milwaukee, Denver, or beyond?

Our expansion brings new opportunities to make a difference. We're hiring prevention specialists in both Milwaukee and Denver to coordinate these initiatives. We also have job openings right now in Houston and New Haven! Know someone passionate about making an impact or think you're a good fit? More about the Not a Number Curriculum

Not a Number ([link removed]) is an interactive child trafficking and exploitation prevention curriculum designed to provide youth with information and skills in a manner that inspires them to make safe choices. Through open conversations, engaging activities, and the use of media, participants raise their awareness of human trafficking and exploitation. They learn to recognize recruitment tactics, understand vulnerabilities, and challenge harmful stereotypes. Youth also identify healthy support systems and develop skills to navigate potential exploitative situations. The curriculum was developed for youth ages 12-18 and is inclusive of all genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds. While youth with high-risk indicators will particularly benefit, the program is designed to be implemented with and benefit all youth. Not a Number focuses on empowering youth through education and creating space for honest dialogue. It moves beyond the traditional “information deficit” model,
encouraging skill development.

Rooted in the invaluable expertise of diverse survivors, Not a Number is updated every three years to incorporate new trends and timely real-world feedback which ensures its relevance and effectiveness. Through our advanced data systems, Love146 is able to provide communities with timely data about the program, maintaining transparency and accountability in the mission to protect and educate vulnerable populations. In addition to this internal monitoring, the curriculum is also being rigorously evaluated by the University of New Hampshire’s Crimes Against Children Research Center.
