In the absence of Congressional action, here’s something you can do right now:

John,

Want to hold Trump accountable? There’s something that you can do right now, and it doesn’t require action from Congress.

Write to your State Representative and State Senator and urge them to pass legislation that requires all major party candidates for president to publicly release their tax returns to appear on the presidential primary ballot in 2020.

California Governor Gavin Newsom just signed legislation creating such a law ― the Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act. This means that if Trump does not release his tax returns to the American public, he will not be on the primary ballot in California next year.

Tell your state elected officials to take up this legislation in your state and hold Donald Trump accountable to the American people.

Thank you,

Subject: If Congress won’t act, we must.

To your State Legislators:

"A presidential candidate’s income tax returns provide voters with essential information regarding potential conflicts of interest, sources of income, whether they are paying their fair share, and more. I urge you to introduce and pass the Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act in our state and require all candidates for president next year to publicly release their tax returns if they want to appear on the ballot."

John,

Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress this week made two things abundantly clear: President Trump is operating outside of the confines of our laws and the U.S. Constitution; and he must be held accountable.

While some in Congress are taking the necessary steps to investigate the president, including taking the IRS to court to secure Trump’s tax returns, more can be done to obtain his tax returns. His tax returns should provide a roadmap for understanding the extent of Trump’s business dealings and financial relationships with foreign powers, and whether they are influencing the decisions he is making in the Oval Office.

Now, there is something that state legislatures can do to demand to see Trump’s tax returns.

This month, the California legislature became the first in the country to pass a law requiring all major party candidates for president to publicly release their tax returns in order to appear on the primary ballot in 2020. It’s known as the Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act. The measure is awaiting Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature, which is expected any day.

Write to your State Representative and State Senator today and demand that they immediately take up and pass legislation ― similar to California’s ― that requires all presidential candidates to publicly release their tax returns to appear on the 2020 primary ballot.

As you know, Donald Trump is the first president since Richard Nixon to hide his financial dealings from the American people. What is Trump hiding?!

We still don’t know how Trump and his family are benefiting from the Trump-GOP Tax Scam or other policies implemented by his administration.

We still don’t know the full extent of the financial relationship between Trump and foreign powers such as Russia and Saudi Arabia.

And we still don’t know how Trump and his family may have abused our tax laws to avoid paying their fair share of taxes over many years.

Click here to write to your state elected officials and demand that they act immediately to require Donald Trump and all major party candidates for president to publicly release their tax returns to get onto the 2020 primary ballot.

Together, we’re leading the national charge to secure Trump’s tax returns and hold him accountable to the American people.

Thank you,
