Dear John,

Time is running out to fund the government and critical climate programs. But instead of bringing our nation together, House Republican leadership is digging in their heels, advancing partisan bills with extreme funding cuts that could cripple climate progress.

And now their actions are pushing us closer to a painful and unnecessary government shutdown for the second time in three months.

With less than a week until we reach the funding deadline, we need our representatives in congress to pass responsible legislation to keep our government funded. That’s why we need your help.

We need Congress to rebuff the far-right’s continued attacks on climate progress. Urge your member of congress to keep the government open and reject the reckless attempts of the far-right to impede efforts to combat climate change!

President Biden and the Senate have made it clear: the partisan spending bills from House Republicans are a non-starter. With massive cuts to federal agencies — including a 40% cut to the Environmental Protection Agency — these proposals would worsen our health, make us less energy secure, increase energy bills, eliminate jobs and harm the planet.

Simply put, the far-right’s extreme agenda is on full display: protect fossil fuel companies’ record profits by attacking America’s clean energy progress.

Instead of considering legislation with draconian cuts, Congress needs to pass a bill in the short-term to keep the government funded and maintain critical climate investments. It is time to move past extreme House Republicans’ political games so our elected leaders can work on a bipartisan agreement to fully fund the government that protects essential climate and health programs.

With less than a week until a government shutdown, all eyes are on the House of Representatives. Don’t let your Representative compromise on climate.

Send a message before Friday’s funding deadline, urging them to keep the government open so we can focus on what’s important — funding programs that are already creating jobs and reducing climate pollution.

Thank you for your support,
