Over 2000 far-right activists and football hooligans descended on London on Saturday - fuelled by the extreme rhetoric of the former Home Secretary. This violent group was able to quickly climb over police fencing, clashing with police across Westminster and Chinatown.

HOPE not hate followed the protest every step of the way. But we know this is just the beginning - the far right are gearing up for a fight.

These protests do not exist in a vacuum. We’ve seen the far right growing in numbers and confidence, aided by the radical right fringes of this government. Tommy Robinson, his supporters, football hooligans and other far-right groups were all out in a show of force but this didn’t come out of nowhere. This year, we’ve followed countless far-right anti-migrant protests across the UK. 

It’s clear that the far-right is in resurgence. And it could have deadly consequences - on Friday we revealed that hooligan groups were discussing buying crossbows ahead of the protest.

John, no one else is going to do the important work that HOPE not hate does. We need your help today to continue to monitor and expose these racist thugs for who they really are - and protect our communities.
