MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." MONDAY E'NEWS   MCRGO Veteran Discounts With gratitude for their service to our country and the cause of freedom around the world, the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners extends discounts on membership to United States military veterans and allied services, current members of the military, as well as veteran and current full-time law enforcement officers. Those who have served in the military or law enforcement benefit through a $10 discount off annual membership. This discounted rate may be stacked for multiple years. When renewing as a veteran for multiple years online, one year renewals may be done separately for as many years as the member desires. Veteran Life and Veteran Senior Life (age 60+) memberships are also discounted. Additionally, U.S. Military veterans who have experienced an 80%-100% service related disability qualify for a free life membership to MCRGO by submitting proof of military disability status to the executive director. To protect privacy, that documentation will be deleted upon processing. You can email the executive director at [email protected]. Democrats Lose Michigan House Majority State Representatives Lori Stone (D-Warren) and Kevin Coleman (D-Westland) were both elected mayor in their respective cities last Tuesday. With their resignations from the House this week, partisan control of the Michigan House of Representatives is now split 54-54, denying Democrats a majority until special elections can be held next year. While both districts favor Democrats (68.7% Warren & 62.0% Westland), the soonest the special elections can be held and votes certified is early March. As a result, Democrats have adjourned for the year. A rumored December special session called by the governor is now unlikely. This costs Democrats at least four months of opportunities to pass party-line votes on additional gun control measures.
