Anyone who knows me knows that one of the worst parts about running for president is asking people to contribute to keep pace with the obscene amounts of money required to run a winning campaign.
But tonight, that’s what I gotta do. I gotta ask you for money.
Because right now, there are multiple super PACs spending millions of dollars to defeat us, including one running negative ads against us. And with important elections this Tuesday and the Tuesday that follows, we can’t let those ads be the ones voters are seeing most.
And the only way we are going to raise what it takes to win those states is from lots and lots of people making an unprecedented number of small donations. That is truly our only path.
That is why we set a goal of 200,000 individual donations before tonight at midnight. I am to understand that we are very close to reaching that goal — so close that if you can make your first contribution to our campaign right now it could be the one that puts us over the top.
As long as we are in this struggle together, there is absolutely nothing that we cannot accomplish. Thank you very much for your contribution. Especially tonight.
