Today, a bipartisan, bicameral delegation of members of Congress visited Israel to express their support and solidarity with the Jewish state. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul and Ranking Member Gregory Meeks presented the prime minister with a copy of the House resolution we lobbied for that supports Israel, condemns Hamas, and backs the Jewish state in its war against Hamas.
Joining the committee chairs in Israel were Senators John Hoeven and Jerry Moran and Reps. Madeleine Dean, Mike Lawler, Jared Moskowitz, John James, and Max Miller.
This morning on CNN, Congressman Jake Auchincloss was asked about the reported growing anger on the Arab street about Israel’s war to destroy Hamas. Auchincloss responded, "If Israel had allowed the Arab street’s opinion to determine its strategy, it would have been destroyed in 1947, 1967, 1973…" Click here to watch the 90-second clip.
CREATE A CALENDAR INVITE: We need to continue to encourage Congress to stand with Israel. Reserve 15 minutes every day this week to make calls to offices through AIPAC’s new call center, www.aipac.org/call, urging America’s leaders to support Israel.
In Gaza, the IDF continued to press further into the Hamas stronghold of Gaza City and Shifa Hospital. In a graphic, Israel revealed intelligence of Hamas weapons depots and headquarters under the hospital.
Last night, Israeli troops delivered 300 liters of fuel for the hospital to keep functioning. Upon delivery, Hamas prevented the hospital from taking it and the terror group seized it for their own purposes.
As calls for a ceasefire persist, a policy that would allow Hamas to stay armed and in power, Britan’s Secretary of State for Defense gave a direct and forceful rejection of a ceasefire this morning on Sky News.
"If that attack, that terrorist attack one month ago, had been on Britain and 1,400 Brits had lost their life in this country, the idea that we wouldn't pursue the terrorist organization when we knew where they were and that anyone would tell Britain that we shouldn't do that, I think would be rather improbable and extraordinary, and therefore Israel do have a right to do that." On Tuesday this week, scores of Americans are descending on Washington for a March for Israel rally on the National Mall. AIPAC is a cosponsor of this event. Below my signature are posters you can print and use on Tuesday, or at any pro-Israel rally you are attending locally. We have created a page through FedEx to allow AIPAC members to print the poster(s) of your choice directly at any FedEx store across the country, at a marginal cost.
AIPAC has designed signs for you to bring to the rally and use in your community. We’ve partnered with FedEx to make it easy for you to order signs online and print them at any of their stores. You can pick them up at your local FedEx, or order them for pickup at the FedEx closest to the march (325 7th St NW, Washington, D.C. 20004).
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
