Happy Veterans Day!

This weekend, we celebrated Veterans Day. We live in the greatest country in the world thanks to the brave veterans who have served our country. I want to say thank you to the Illinois veterans who have defended America and our freedom!  

It was great to be in Rochelle on Saturday to celebrate Veterans Day! To every veteran, I want to thank you for your selfless service to our country.

Thank you to Mayor John Bearrows for putting on a great inaugural Veterans Day event, Grand Marshal Bert Cole - a WWII vet, VFW Post 3878, and the local American Legion!

In Dixon yesterday afternoon, I was honored to speak at the Veterans Day event and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of VFW Post 540! We are forever indebted to those who have served our country.

Thank you to Lee Co. Board Member Keane Hudson, Roger Willey of the VFW, and American Legion Post 12 for putting on a great ceremony!

Taking on the Chinese Communist Party

I recently joined Congressman John Moolenaar of Michigan to introduce the No Official Giveaways Of Taxpayers’ Income to Oppressive Nations (NO GOTION) Act. The bill would prohibit companies affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from receiving green energy production tax credits implemented by the Biden Administration in the Inflation Reduction Act. 

The CCP is actively working to undermine American leadership and our economy. As a member of the House Select Committee on the CCP and the House Intelligence Committee, I have seen the malign efforts that the CCP and other foreign adversaries like Iran and Russia are engaged in to undermine our domestic supply chains and national security. Hard-working taxpayers should not be on the hook for billions in federal subsidies funneling to companies beholden to malign actors, like the CCP. It is clear that the so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ is being leveraged by foreign adversaries to exploit loopholes to gain generous incentives and dominate key technologies in the United States. Congress and the federal government should be promoting pro-growth tax policy that supports American businesses and this commonsense bill is a positive step to get us back on track.

Combating the Biden Administration's ESG Activism

This week, the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on the Biden Administration's ESG policies. The Biden Administration's fixation on ESG activism is putting savers' retirement security at risk and we must work to ensure this does not impact long term investments.

Visiting with 16th District Constituents

I visited with Heartland Health Services in Pekin to meet their staff and tour the facility this week. Heartland Health Services works hard to serve the community and provide care to families across the tri-county region. Thank you for all that you do for Tazewell County.

I stopped by Pekin City Hall this week to meet with Mayor Mary Burress, new City Manager and former Police Chief John Dossey, and newly sworn in Police Chief Seth Ranney! I am grateful for the service to Pekin and central Illinois!

It was a pleasure to visit with Kelly Hamil of the Air Evac Lifeteam in Matoon who received the Stars of Life Award for exemplary service in the EMS field. I am grateful for all of the EMS personnel throughout IL16 who continue to look out for our communities.
