Friend,
We need to talk about a pandemic of homelessness that's afflicting our nation coast to coast.
The rising cost of everything has become untenable for working people, especially when it comes to housing. That means more and more workers, families, and children are losing the roof over their heads and facing a brutal, uncertain, and unsafe life on the streets.
We need leaders who will take immediate action to address this crisis. Here in California, we are facing an unprecedented housing crisis. That's why one of my first actions on City Council was to increase rental assistance to help keep people in their homes while at the same time increasing oversight of our social service providers to make sure they provided services for and housed our unhoused community.
The result? Our city saw a 60% drop in homelessness.
Friend, housing is a human right. We need leaders who are ready to take swift action to keep folks housed. I'm ready to advocate for the people being left behind by corrupt and archaic systems, and short-term greed in Congress. Will you chip in any amount to power our movement for systemic change today? We can't rely on short-term fixes or piecemeal solutions that don't address the root of the problem.
We need to address the long-term issue of lack of affordable housing by building more affordable units that our communities desperately need, while also increasing crucial resources to help get our unhoused neighbors off the streets.
I know what it's like to feel unsafe in your environment. I escaped the Iranian revolution when I was just a child. That feeling of terrifying uncertainty around shelter and home is something that we can prevent others from experiencing by fighting the housing and affordability crisis at the systemic level.
Friend, we're uniting for a fair, equitable America where no one lives paycheck to paycheck, where no one is one missed paycheck away from losing their home. Real change starts with all of us — and we're counting on support. Will you make a contribution today? Any amount you can spare goes a long way. [[link removed]]
