John,
Did you know that 82% of voters support expanding the Child Tax Credit to reach the lowest-income families? This includes 77% of Republicans![1] And yet, at the end of 2021, Congress allowed those monthly CTC payments to expire, plunging millions of children back into poverty.
Congress is under massive pressure to pass a tax package by the end of this year, but corporate lobbyists aren’t interested in the Child Tax Credit. They want more tax handouts to corporations so they can enrich their CEOs and wealthy shareholders.
We’re demanding Congress put children and families first and pass an expanded CTC this year!
Rush a donation today to keep up the pressure and ensure our thousands of messages to Congress drown out the pleas of greedy Wall Street lobbyists.

Will Congress prioritize tax policies to support families? The answer is up to us. Together, we’re ensuring the voices of children and vulnerable families are heard in the halls of Congress and their needs are addressed in funding bills and tax packages being crafted right now.
Thank you,

[1] 82% of Voters Support Broad Eligibility of the Child Tax Credit, As Census Data Shows Child Poverty Doubled After Program’s Lapse in 2022
-- DEBORAH’S EMAIL --
John,
What are Congress’s priorities in an end-of-year tax package? The answer is up to us.
While high-priced Wall Street lobbyists are demanding billions of dollars in corporate tax handouts, we’re fighting for an expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) with monthly payments that reaches the lowest income-earning households.
In 2021, the expanded CTC helped cut the child poverty rate by 46%, lifting millions of children out of poverty. This was particularly impactful for Black children, Hispanic children, and other vulnerable communities because, for the first time, the full Child Tax Credit reached the lowest income-earning households.
This is a fight not just for children and families, but about our country’s priorities.
Too often, Congress sides with the rich and corporations while leaving vulnerable communities behind. But that’s exactly why we’re here―to apply grassroots and lobbying pressure to members of Congress and make sure the voices of low-income people, people with disabilities, and older Americans are heard.
Congress wants to pass a tax package by the end of this year, and potentially attach it to the must-pass stopgap funding bill being voted on this coming week.
Rush a donation today to keep the pressure on Congress and demand an expanded Child Tax Credit that reaches the lowest income households.
Right now, a parent with two children needs to make over $27,900 in order to receive the full CTC—they’d need to work full time at twice the current federal minimum wage to get the full CTC.[1]
The structure of the current Child Tax Credit is upside down, resulting in nearly half of Black children, 4 in 10 Indigenous children, and 1 in 3 Latino children receiving less than the full credit—if they receive a credit at all—purely because their families’ incomes are too low.[2]
Already, we’ve sent tens of thousands of messages to members of Congress demanding they prioritize children and families in an end-of-year tax package. Power this work with a donation today!
