Two years ago, we saw a national movement of women leaders emerge on all levels of government because we came together to ensure our democracy reflects our communities. In 2020 we're poised to make this another big year for women in politics. But we have to come together again to make that possible.

Dudik for Attorney General

John, Happy International Women's Day!

This year, this holiday is more important than ever to think about the achievements women around the world have made, and the work we still need to do. I am running for Attorney General because the issues that impact the daily lives of women and families in this state, especially the high rate of gender-based violence, need to be adequately addressed in a meaningful way. A 2019 Montana Department of Justice Report showed that at least every 2.5 hours, there was a report of domestic violence, and women were the victim nearly 75% of the time.

Today, I can think of no greater example of the importance of women in elected office than the political landscape right here in Montana. This year, almost all statewide races have a woman candidate, including the many amazing women running down ballot. Montana also has a strong history of electing women to statewide offices, starting with Jeannette Rankin over 100 years ago and more recently influential leaders like Denise Juneau, Monica Lindeen, and Linda McCulloch.

Two years ago, we saw a national movement of women leaders emerge on all levels of government because we came together to ensure our democracy reflects our communities. But in 2020, we've already seen how sexism and double standards constrain women from breaking the highest glass ceiling. We still have an opportunity to make our democracy stronger. But we have to come together again to make that possible.

That's why today I am standing with other women candidates across the country to commit to electing Democratic women up and down the ticket in 2020. Will you join me?

In honor of International Women's Day, join me and other women candidates, and pledge to support Democratic women on the ballot in 2020. Add your name here >>

MAKE THE PLEDGE

TWomen have been the driving force behind some of our biggest Democratic victories, but we're still stuck in a misogynistic lense of how women should act. I just spoke at a Carol's List event last week talking about the double standards women face in politics.

I know personally how hard it is to raise a family and be dedicated to public service. I became the only sitting legislator to ever give birth during a legislative session - and I was fortunate to have the strong support of my family to make that a reality. I gave birth on Thursday, and came back to work the following Monday - with baby in arms. I received criticism for not staying home with my kids, but I knew that lending my voice in the Montana Legislature was too important, and I could not sit this session out. It was also personally important to me to set an example for my children, and all children, that women can do whatever they set their minds to.

If we're going to change politics and continue having women lead our country forward, we need your support now.

So this International Women's Day, pledge to support Democratic women on this ballot in 2020.

Thanks for standing with us. Together, we can do this!
