Happy International Women’s Day!
Today, we celebrate all of the cisgender and transgender sheroes and heroines who have led the fight for justice and equity.
Women belong everywhere. Our voices belong everywhere.
Together, we have made progress, but we still have a lot of work left to realize true equity for women and girls, especially as our sisters of color, queer freedom fighters, and transgender sisters continue to be shackled by racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia.
While our basic rights and liberties remain under attack from the current occupant of the White House and this administration, it is more important than ever that we advocate, legislate and mobilize to say “abortion is healthcare,” that we close the gender wage gap, that we resist efforts to roll back Title IX, that we stand side-by-side with survivors, that we address the crisis of maternal mortality, and dismantle policies that deny women and girls an equitable opportunity to access education, buy a house, or get a job.
Our movement is fighting to carry on the legacy of women who have led the charge for justice and equity, and to make space for every woman and girl.
Thank you for supporting our movement today,
Ayanna Pressley
