John,
It’s been over one month since Hamas’ attack on Israel and Israel’s non-stop military aggression against Gaza began. Instead of demanding a ceasefire and return of all hostages, the Democratic establishment gave Israel $14 billion worth of bombs and weapons to continue their genocide against the Palestinian people.
At this point, more than 10,000 Palestinian lives have been lost, including at least 4,000 children. It didn’t have to be this way, and it doesn’t have to continue.
Justice Democrats incumbents Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, Summer Lee, Jamaal Bowman, Ilhan Omar, AOC, Ayanna Pressley, and Greg Casar continue to be some of the few members of Congress calling for a ceasefire, while many of their colleagues either remain silent or callously add fuel to the flames of war and hatred.
But the tide is turning. Public opinion is with us on the right side of history, with 66% of voters and more than 80% of Democratic voters supporting a ceasefire. On this day last week in Washington, D.C., we saw the largest pro-Palestinian protest in U.S. history, with hundreds of thousands of people flooding the streets here and in similar marches all over the world.
Over 100 congressional staffers walked out in support of a ceasefire as they continue to receive thousands of calls from people like you urging their members of Congress to summon the courage to join us and use their power to end the ethnic cleansing we are witnessing in real-time.
Each day that passes without a ceasefire, more innocent lives are lost. That’s why we can’t give up — we must keep up the momentum for peace.
Thank you for everything you’ve done — from making calls to signing petitions to marching to donating — to stand up for human rights in this historic moment.
