John – Today, we pause to honor the service of more than 16 million Veterans across the country.
Their unwavering dedication to our Republic and its democratic values has made America safer, more just, and secure.
These brave service members stepped up and did their duty. From every community and background, men and women of all races and creeds raised their hands, taking an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Today, these Veterans deserve our respect and gratitude for their service.
In the words of the Veterans Affairs Department, each of us has a sacred obligation:
“To fulfill President Lincoln’s promise to care for those who have served in our nation’s military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors.”
As a member of Congress, I take my responsibility to do all I can for our Veterans seriously.
I’m proud and honored that Washington’s 10th Congressional District is home to over 120,000 veterans, including those who served at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
To our Veterans, I will continue to do all I can in Congress and our community to honor your service and ensure President Lincoln’s promise is fulfilled.
Gratefully,
Marilyn
