What's Happening in Your Community? What Gives You Hope?

Friend - Can you believe it’s November? We can, because we spent
October counting down the days until November 7th, Election Day! We’ve
been hard at work, fighting in Ohio for our children to not have fewer
freedoms than we did, and mobilizing mom voters across the country to
stand up for kids and against the toxic agenda of groups like Moms for
Liberty. We are feeling GREAT about the results!

[ [link removed] ]How are things in YOUR community? Are you facing local efforts to ban
books? What’s giving you hope? What are things like for you right now?

Moms, dads, and caregivers are a powerful force together!! In fact, in
this last election, we not only WON on establishing a constitutional right
to abortion in Ohio (where we reached out to encourage 75,000 moms who are
irregular mom voters to VOTE), we also won school board elections all
around the country^1. Voters stood up for kids and repudiated in a big way
Moms for Liberty, along with its bigoted agenda of book bans,
discrimination, and the taking away of our choices.

What we’ve always known was clearly on display last week: Moms for Liberty
has never represented America’s mothers and families – and its effort to
‘mom-wash’ an agenda of hate is failing.

At MomsRising, we’re fired up to keep protecting our children and
communities from hate and harm. We’re fighting with you for the issues
that truly matter to moms and families, each and every day. We know
District of Columbia is unique, even as parents across the nation are also
facing similar struggles. We also know that we’re the most effective when
we hear from YOU, how you’re doing and what’s giving you hope – and,
importantly, when we can share your experiences and what’s giving YOU
hope, in order to inspire others to join us in a powerful movement! Can
you help?

[ [link removed] ]Take a moment to share with us your MomsRising story. How did you get
involved with this movement? What’s giving you hope? What’s happening in
your community right now?

As we approach 2024 (yes it’s an election year - a big one!!!), we are
hard at work planning (and yes we’ll be doing postcards!). We can’t always
respond individually to everything shared with us, but know that we read
everything you submit, and we deeply appreciate all you do to engage and
make change with us.

We want to understand what is happening near you, and what’s giving you
hope, to help us make decisions about where to organize online and
on-the-ground. We want to learn more about how, together with moms and
families like you, we can best organize and build power in this moment.
We’re excited about the future, and we need your voice.

hope? What’s on your mind?

While our national work is often more in the spotlight, we’ve also had
some HUGE state-level victories this year:

* In Washington State we fought for and WON free or $15 a month child
care for low-income workers with the passage of Senate Bill 5225.

* In North Carolina, we spoke up, loudly, that everyone deserves access
to health insurance coverage and cheered as Governor Roy Cooper signed
Medicaid Expansion into law, improving healthcare access for over
600,000 people.

* In New Hampshire, MomsRising and partners celebrated a HUGE win with
the indefinite postponement of the New Hampshire parental bill of
“wrongs” – SB 272 – which was a direct attack against our LGBTQ+ kids.

We’ve grown our movement, our power, and our organizing programs in many
states and local communities over the last decade, including training
hundreds of mom-organizers through our local Beacon and Fellowship
programs, deepening our engagement opportunities, and expanding our State
Moms Force programs. This is how we win. We are doubling-down on these
initiatives - we want to keep getting local, identify and empower mom
leaders, and achieve more wins for moms and families.

[ [link removed] ]We need your help to shape our future and keep the wins rolling. Will
you take a second and let us know what’s happening in your community and
what’s giving you hope?

Friend, we are so glad to be in this movement with you. Thank you
for all you do.

- Nate, Selina, Kristin, and everyone else at MomsRising.org
