As we observe Veterans Day, I want to share a few updates on Senate Democrats’ recent work for veterans and service members – and ask you to lend your voice.

First, a year ago, we passed the PACT Act, which expanded health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances, and gave more than three million veterans a chance at a healthier life. Now, my office is working to help Illinois’ veterans claim the benefits they earned and deserve.

Second, the Senate recently passed a spending bill that funds key military construction and veterans’ affairs priorities. Now, we need the House to act on our bipartisan legislation.

Finally, swift military confirmations are essential to ensure our military remains strong, well-prepared, and fully operational. Just last week, we confirmed three top military officers, including the first female member of the Joint Chief of Staff.

However, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville is holding up hundreds more confirmations over his personal, partisan opposition to military policy that enables our service members to make their own reproductive health care decisions.
