Lindsey Cheek for Attorney General

Team —

This Veteran’s Day, I want to extend my gratitude to all who have given the ultimate sacrifice and answered the call to serve our country.

I come from a family of veterans — my brothers Cory and Logan both served in the U.S. Marines for over 5 years, and my Paw Paw was a WWII veteran. This day has always held a special significance in my life. That’s why I’m a member of the Legion of Mars Krewe and have spent many years honoring veterans through this remarkable organization.

The Legion of Mars Krewe was founded by combat veterans 10 years ago to honor those who have served in the military and civilian first responders. During Mardi Gras, the Legion of Mars parade is led by the United States Marine Corps Band, High School Marching Bands with ROTC units, and WWII relic vehicles.

From Lindsey Cheek:

We’ll have everyone from military veterans, to firefighters, to folks like myself in this parade, in addition to a Wounded Warriors float for Purple Heart recipients. This is a celebration of all who serve our community, and each branch of the Armed Forces will have a dedicated float to salute all veterans and current servicemembers.

It is an honor to participate in such a large celebration of our veterans. After all, our country is stronger because of our veterans and military families. They deserve our support and gratitude every day of the year.

Thank you for joining me in honoring our veterans. To all our veterans, I’m grateful to you and your families for everything you’ve done.

— Lindsey
