The Moore You Know Veterans Update

Happy Veterans Day!

I thank all of those who served and risked their lives for the good of our country. Veterans’ issues will remain a key issue in the 118th Congress. As Veterans Day approaches, I want to ensure that our team is committed to helping all veterans across the Second District. Direct input from military families, caregivers, and most importantly, veterans, is crucial in making sure the policy put forward in Congress matches the needs of those who have risked everything for our country.

As an Alabamian and having served myself, it is my goal to advocate for the issues that matter most to you. It is also important for me to keep you updated on the work I am doing for you in Washington, and I hope you will find this newsletter insightful going forward. In the meantime, please fill out the survey linked here to help me fight for you! If you have filled out the survey previously and do not have an update to share, you do not need to fill it out again.
Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Congressman Barry Moore
HIGHLIGHTS
Veteran Cases Resolved
My office has resolved over a thousand cases for Veterans in need of assistance accessing the benefits they are entitled to. I made a point to hire folks with servants’ hearts, and I am humbled by what we’ve been able to accomplish for the people we serve.
Upcoming Veterans Healthcare Fair in Dothan
On Monday, December 11th, my office will be holding a Veterans Healthcare Fair from 11AM to 2PM at the Elks Lodge located at 3041 Ross Clark Circle in Dothan.

Agencies in attendance include Veterans Healthcare Administration, Veterans Benefit Administration, and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs. If you are a veteran in need of healthcare assistance, I hope you will come see my staff!
Recent Legislation
Over the last few months, I have been honored to co-sponsor many pieces of legislation that advocates on behalf of our Veterans and improves the VA. I co-sponsored the Health Care Fairness for Military Families Act, which raises the age of Tricare eligibility to the age of 26, which benefits our younger Veterans in need of health care coverage.

I also co-sponsored the VA Home Loan Awareness Act. Only 13% of Veterans utilize their Veteran home loan benefits due to being unaware of this benefit. This bill brings awareness of this underutilized benefit to ensure broader awareness among the Veteran community.

I am proud to have also supported the creation of a National Military and Veterans Suicide Awareness Day. We must never neglect the mental health crisis in our country and ensure that Veterans have access to all types of healthcare, ranging from counseling to a routine surgery.
New Airline Program
United Airlines has announced the launch of the United Military Pilot Program. This would allow active-duty U.S. military priority access to job offers as First Officers with United Airlines. Candidates do not need to hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate at the time of their application.
National Family Caregivers Month
This National Family Caregivers Month, I want to recognize the many caregivers of veterans. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do! Click here to find resources and services dedicated to caregiver health and well-being.
VA Outreach Events and Job Fairs
The VA hosts numerous events to help Veterans and their families buy homes, earn degrees, start careers, and stay healthy. Please visit Outreach & Events at VA.gov for more information on how to utilize these helpful tools.
FEATURED STORY

Veteran Army Aviator Art Gribensk
I am a retired Army Aviator and live in Enterprise with my family. I am 62 years old and also 100% total and permanently disabled due to service-connected blindness. I know the frustration that comes with battling a federal agency. After a snafu with Medicare, I lost my Medicare Part B Coverage, Tricare benefits, and prescription drug benefits.

After many failed attempts with social security, I called Congressman Barry Moore's office. His excellent staff helped me get my benefits reinstated when no one else could! If you need assistance, call Congressman Moore's office at 334-478-6330 and find out how they can help!
Please reach out to my office at barrymoore.house.gov or 202-225-2901 if we can help you or your family in any way.
