In Congress, I proudly voted for the Honoring our PACT Act, which provides funding and care for our service members who put their lives at risk to defend our nation and returned home with a greater risk of cancer, respiratory diseases, and other conditions due to exposure to harmful toxins. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the PACT Act has provided more than 4.6 million veterans with free toxic exposure screenings and allocated over $2.46 billion dollars in PACT Act benefits to veterans in need.
I was also proud to support veterans in crisis by voting for the COMPACT Act, which allows any veteran who is in an acute suicidal crisis to go to any VA or non-VA healthcare facility to receive emergency stabilization care at no cost, even if they are not enrolled in VA healthcare.
Further, I helped send the Korean American VALOR Act to President Biden’s desk. Once signed into law, this bill will grant VA benefits to over 3,000 Korean American citizens who fought alongside American troops during the Vietnam War while serving in the South Korean armed forces. And in our district office, we work tirelessly to ensure that our veterans receive all of the compensation and services they are entitled to.
