On this special Veterans Day, we take a moment to honor and thank our brave veterans for their service and sacrifice for our nation. We are proud to recognize the unique and valuable contributions veterans bring to our workforce, and we want to let you know about an important constituency group that's dedicated to making a difference in the lives of veterans: the Union Veterans Council (UVC).
?
At the Arizona AFL-CIO, we understand that veterans' issues and labor issues often intersect. The UVC was created to provide veterans with a distinct place within the labor movement, raising up your stories and addressing the unique challenges you face.
?
Now, the UVC is actively expanding its presence here in Arizona to help veterans across our state unite and work together to improve our communities and our country. It's a space for you to connect with fellow working veterans, share your experiences, and collaborate to serve your communities in various ways, including:
- Help service members transition to civilian life through job training and apprenticeship programs?
- Advocate for higher veteran wages and better working conditions.
- Improve the services provided by the VA.
- Solve veteran homelessness.
- End veteran suicides
We encourage you to join the Union Veterans Council's community of working veterans. By doing so, you'll stay informed about the UVC's efforts on a national scale and receive updates on actions and events in your area that support working veterans.
?
There are now more than 1 million working veterans, countless military spouses, and generations of veterans who have found their path to the American dream through union jobs. Your dedication and experience are invaluable, and we want to ensure that you have the support and resources you need to continue to thrive.
?
Join the Union Veterans Council's mission and stand with us as we work to create a brighter future for veterans and their families.
