John,

Today, we express gratitude to veterans for their service, recognizing and appreciating their contributions to our nation.

Every day, not just today, it is our duty to care for those who care for us.

As a school board member, I took pride in voting for tax exemptions for veterans, first responders, and seniors. I believe those who serve our community should be able to live in it.

Our nation has weathered numerous challenges, and we must acknowledge that our current progress is a result of the profound sacrifices made by these individuals.

But we must be honest about where we are as a nation and the impact the actions, and sometimes inaction, of the GOP have on veterans. From Tommy Tuberville’s hold on military promotions, uncertainty created by the GOP House Majority’s inability to fund the government or Mike Lawler’s vote to limit the freedom of women who fight for his, they consistently say they support veterans, but if you pay attention this is often where their support ends.

Veterans and service members deserve better. In Congress, I will put policy over performance and get things done to make veterans’ lives a little bit better and a little bit easier.

On this Veterans Day, I extend my wishes for a safe and meaningful day of remembrance.

— Liz
