Hello Democrats,
Today is Veterans Day and we are honored to recognize the veterans who have served our great nation and their families. Their sacrifices, strength, bravery, and selflessness epitomize what America stands for and we are proud to salute them today and every day. Know that our nation will always be indebted to them for who they are and for what they have done for America.
New Mexico is home to more than 142,000 military veterans, 4 military bases, 2 national laboratories, and critical infrastructure and facilities, all of which are crucial to our state’s economic well being and our nation’s security. New Mexicans, including our Native American peoples, have a long history of serving at a higher proportion than most other states. It’s part of our culture, it’s in our DNA, and we are proud of it. On behalf of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, thank you to every veteran in New Mexico, across the country, and around the world.
Democrats remain committed to standing up for veterans and their families. The DPNM Veterans and Military Families Caucus advocates for veterans and their families and encourages Democratic veterans to run for office in NM. Last year, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and state legislators secured $60 million for a state-of-the-art Veterans’ Home in Truth or Consequences that will provide veterans with the respect and care they deserve. At the national level, President Biden signed the PACT Act into law, enacting the most significant expansion of benefits and services for veterans exposed to toxins in more than 70 years. His administration has also taken historic steps to address Veterans’ mental health, homelessness, and reintegration to society.
