Today, to our veterans and their families, we want to say thank you. Thank you for your courage and your sacrifice.

I take my duty to give back to those who sacrificed so much very seriously. Last year, my office was honored with the distinction of a Purple Heart Congressional Office for our excellence in veterans assistance and is listed along the national Purple Heart Trail.

I continue to work tirelessly to meet the needs of those who served our nation not just here in Connecticut, but through critical legislation in the House.

Many veterans return home carrying visible and invisible scars, are unable to find good-paying jobs, can’t access veterans’ health care, and face high rates of homelessness. It’s unacceptable that those who served our nation lack the services they need when they come home.

That’s why I introduced the VA Mental Health Staffing Act, the Surviving Families Benefit Expansion Act, the Palomares Veterans Act, and the Honoring Our PACT Act, all of which have been signed into law by presidents of both parties.

But our work is never over, and my commitment to our veterans and their families remains the same. I hope that you will join me today by taking a moment to remember and honor our veterans and service members and commit ourselves to serving them today and every day.
