Happy Veterans Day!

Today, I hope you’ll join me in honoring all our brave veterans for the tremendous sacrifice they’ve shown in defending the ideals of American freedom and democracy at home and abroad.

But this holiday serves as a reminder that veterans deserve more than just our gratitude.

Those who answered the call to serve have earned the very best care. That’s why I’ve championed legislation to strengthen mental health resources and improve access to care for all of our veterans – including getting the PACT Act signed into law, which expands VA health care coverage for thousands of veterans who were exposed to toxins during their service. That’s why I’m still fighting to improve our VA facilities, provide more accessible housing for veterans and their families, and helping veterans find employment opportunities when they return home.

And that’s why I’m doing everything I can to keep the extreme right faction in the House from shutting down our government – so our veterans, which make up 33% of our federal workforce and are doubly impacted by shutdowns, won’t have their key benefits suspended.

Taking care of our nation’s veterans is a matter of doing what’s right. It’s as simple as that.

You can always count on me to deliver for our brave veterans.
