Dear John,
This Veterans Day, as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country, we must remember that our gratitude should extend beyond mere words and ceremonial gestures. Our veterans deserve concrete actions and policies that genuinely reflect our nation's respect and gratitude for their service.
Too often, our politicians in both parties jump at every opportunity to send our troops to war zones and love to talk about how much they love the troops, but when these troops come home and become veterans, these same politicians turn a blind eye as veterans become homeless and die of drug addiction or suicide. If we can’t take care of our veterans, we shouldn’t be going to war, and if we do go to war, we’d better take care of our veterans.
Our policy aims to address the critical needs of veterans, focusing on:
Comprehensive Healthcare: We must provide full access to free quality healthcare, including mental health services. Too many veterans suffer from PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and other service-related health issues. Too many veterans die of suicide every single day. It's imperative that we offer not only treatment but also holistic support to heal both body and mind – this should include MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD, which the FDA granted “breakthrough therapy” status.
Economic Opportunities: Ensuring economic stability for veterans is crucial. This includes support in transitioning to civilian life, with job training and employment opportunities that honor their skills and contributions to our society.
Educational Benefits: We must expand educational benefits to equip veterans with the tools they need to succeed in their post-service lives. Education is not only a pathway to opportunity but also a way to integrate into civilian life.
Homelessness Prevention: It's a national disgrace that so many who have served our country find themselves without a home and sleep out in the street. We're dedicated to providing housing and support services to all veterans in need.
Women Veterans' Rights: We must recognize the unique challenges faced by women veterans. Our policies will ensure that women receive the respect, care, and opportunities they deserve, reflecting the critical role they play in our armed forces.

As we commemorate this Veterans Day, let's recommit to our veterans with more than words and empty platitudes. Let's support them through policies that genuinely reflect our nation's gratitude and respect. And let’s respect them by not constantly going to war in the first place. Your support for our campaign aids in advocating for these crucial policies.
