When you look at the dysfunction in Washington, what do you see
missing?

Each time I ask that question, it comes down to 1 variable: Not enough
Veterans are leading our nation.

Every inductee into the Armed Forces takes an oath to protect and
defend the Constitution of the United States. I can tell you from
experience that this oath does not end when the uniform comes off, and
the invaluable experiences that men and women gain from their service
cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Our Armed Forces take young people and turn them into leaders. These
citizen volunteers become the kind of leaders I was proud to serve
along with, and now I want to make them leaders in our nation’s
capital, where principles are often deficient.
